We just got back from a very successful field season in the European Alps, where we collected sediment cores from 11 lakes!
Pete and Kristin drive from Tromsø (Norway) to Obertauern (Austria)
Kristin and I drove the equipment-filled cold van for 3,500 km from the University Museum in Tromsø to Obertauern, a ski resort in the Austrian Alps. The four-day journey took us through Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Czechia. We dropped 22-degrees of latitude from midnight sun to lands of more reasonable day length. On the way, we saw much wildlife, including moose (Alces alces), reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), and a hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus). We picked up Sandra at Munich and met up with Inger at Obertauern.
