Every first Thursday of December is tradition to open the Tromsø Museum at night. During this event young and adults can participate in several workshops related to the research done in Tromsø Museum. This year EcoGen and NorBOL joined forces to perform several activities. The children could be field assistants with the platform that EcoGen team use to core the bottom of the lakes. Later, they could check how a real sediment core looks like and sample it. In order to analyse it, they could choose whether to use a plant or an animal marker. Obtaining DNA sequences that they would compare with known sequences of the database. Once the organism was found, they could make the species it belongs to with pipe cleaners!
